Bistro Johannes is really a special place. The ramen is amazing, you can taste that it is made with the best regional products. It says a lot about the owners and how they approach the food scene: honest, local, and full of respect for quality. They manage to offer top quality products for very fair prices, and this is why, even if the place is still young, it already feels like an institution. And you must try the cheesecake. If their ramen is world-class, then their cheesecake is simply from another universe. Chapeau to the team

Wow. This is the best ramen I have had in Europe and I have tried over 20 places… The amount of craft put into each bowl is incredible, each bowl is quite customizable, you can get advice on what broth to order based on your past preferences… The kimchi is homemade and has a vegan option, they also have homemade fermented chili paste and homemade ice tea. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the service is absolutely amazing and accommodating. If you are in basel, or close by, this place is worth it 100%. I am strict with my ratings and you can trust my word.

Wow! That was real ramen. My wife and I stopped here today for a lunch and we're delighted. We had heard the food was good and after being consistently disappointed with ramen in Basel, we decided to give it a try. My wife had Tantanmen and I had Shio. We were very pleased by the layers of flavor in the booths. The Tantanmen was nicely spicy with a full complex earthy flavor. At first I thought the Shio was going to be salty, but it was only the initial flavor exposed when hitting my tongue. I know it sounds pretentious, but the flavors of the broth reveal the time care put into creating them. This restaurant makes wonderful food.
